Eleven-foot alligator found in Sarasota community during mating season (includes video story)

Sarasota residents are being extra cautious today after a surprise visit from an 11-foot gator. In the midst of mating season, the alligator made its appearance in a pond in a residential community.

The gator was first approached by a resident maintenance worker on Tuesday. Shortly after that, a trapper and local residents captured the creature and relocated it to a ranch in Punta Gorda.
