Disturbing accusations against a teacher have emerged. Philip Velez, a teacher and assistant basketball coach at Charles W. Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines, has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.
On Sunday, the 28-year-old admitted to having sex with the teen several times and told authorities that she was his girlfriend. The pair allegedly met in a fundraiser hosted by the school last November.
Velez appeared in court yesterday and is facing four charges; three counts of sexual battery and one of using his authority improperly. His bond was set at $85,000.
