A vigil is held for Surfside victims as rescue and investigation continue (includes video story)

A beachside vigil was held this week to honor the rising number of people deceased and missing in the Surfside building collapse.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said he remains hopeful that people will be pulled from the rubble alive as search-and-rescue efforts continue. He is encouraging officials to start a thorough investigation that looks into the causes of the sudden building collapse.

“It did appear that there were some warning signs on this one, so we are going to have to go through that,” DeSantis said. “It sure seems like in hindsight now, that those were things that potentially could have been addressed.”
