The ADHD Diaries: How ADHD impacts women in college (includes audio story)

The ADHD Diaries explores attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder at the collegiate level through the lens of two guests from Florida International University. While the focus remains on ADHD in women, this podcast broadens its scope to both the experiences of and resources available for college students with the disorder.

Episode 1: ADHD vs ADD with Yairi Lorenzo

Host Alessandra Henriquez chats with Yairi Lorenzo, a female FIU student diagnosed with ADD, about how her condition has shaped her college experience. She explains the differences between ADD and ADHD and elaborates on the challenges surrounding accommodations on campus.

Episode 2: Discussing ADHD Accommodations with Stephen Loynaz

Stephen Loynaz, the access consultant manager of FIU’s Disability Resource Center, discusses what accommodations are available to college students with ADHD and how they can access them. Together with our host, Alessandra Henrqiuez, he also shares statistics on FIU’s ADHD student body and shares how the university works toward improving accessibility services.

Megan Aguilera is a senior majoring in Digital Communications and Interactive Media at Florida International University. Her goal after graduating is to pursue a career involving content creation in the marketing field, including content for social media, campaigns, etc.
