Ye, the rapper formally known as Kanye West, has been dropped from deals with global fashion brands, including Adidas and Balenciaga. And social media platforms have restricted his accounts after anti-semitic speech.
In addition to the antisemitic tweets, which have now been deleted, Ye has also received criticism for wearing a “white lives matter” T-shirt during a fashion show. When asked in a recent interview if he regrets his actions, he said “absolutely not.”
“This does send a strong statement that there are consequences when you express anti-semitism and any form of hate,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of Anti-Defamation League.
After Adidas cut ties with Ye, Forbes reported that he is no longer in the billionaire status.
