On Argentine Independence Day, the nation’s defending champion soccer team beat Canada 2-0 in New Jersey, becoming the first to advance to the Copa America final.
Julián Álvarez scored the opening goal in the first half, but it was Lionel Messi’s tipped shot from Enzo Fernández that sealed the win.
Argentine fans came together near Manolo, an Argentine restaurant in Miami Beach, with drums and speakers to celebrate their team reaching another final.
“[It was an] easy game,” said Miguel Aparicio, an Argentine fan. “I knew we were winning 2-0…I already knew the result.”
The next semifinal takes place tonight between Uruguay and Colombia. The winner will play Argentina on Sunday, July 14, at Hard Rock Stadium. Tickets start at $1,160.
