“B” was the letter on the street as the international annual “Beatles On The Beach” festival hit Boca Raton this past weekend.
Concluded on March 15, the four-day event took place at several venues across Boca Raton, with a hub at Mizner Park Amphitheater — the city’s home for the arts and local events. Some attendees traveled from as far as Russia to join the celebration.
Each day offered attendees ways to connect with the music and fellow fans of British pop-rock band The Beatles, who have been recognized as one of the most iconic bands in history since their debut in 1964 on the Ed Sullivan Show.
The event featured headliner performances from “Live and Let Die: A Symphonic Tribute to Paul McCartney” and “Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience” — two bold musical events that highlighted music history with a symphonic twist. Actor Morgan Freeman was in attendance, earning a great deal of fanfare from the Boca Raton community. The immersive concert included Freeman’s documentary-style narration of historical moments in the history of blues music.
“Beatles On The Beach” was founded in 2019 by Daniel Hartwell and Kerri Smith. They say that bringing joy to fans is an unforgettable part of the experience.
“We are just so happy that we bring happiness and cheer to everyone,” Smith said. “That’s what we want to do.”
A portion of the festival’s proceeds benefits the United We Rock Foundation, which Hartwell and Smith founded to uplift children through music. The organization provides instruments and music education opportunities to children from low-income families.
Hartwell and Smith, along with this year’s event attendees, shared their excitement for the future of the “Beatles On The Beach” festival. “We’re happy to be doing Beatles On The Beach here in South Florida for a long time.”
