Since 2018 the Better Bus Network project has aimed to redesign Miami-Dade County’s transit system.
The revamped system will remove thousands of bus stops in order to promote a system that provides faster service to all transit riders. It will cut wait times in half, from 30-minute intervals to 15-minute intervals.
The new system will also offer a smoother riding experience by having buses stop less and removing intermittent stops that are deemed unnecessary.
The Transit Alliance, the group behind the BBN project, will continue to work on the network to gradually lean the Miami-Dade community off the car dependency it currently has.
The project is scheduled to be implemented by 2022.
