Investigations continue after a Mexican naval ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge last weekend, causing parts of the ship to break off and damage both the vehicle and the crew. The boat, known as the Cuauhtémoc, had its last stop in New York.
The vessel followed a set route to pass under the famous long-stretched bridge. As it attempted to cross underneath, all three masts on the ship snapped. Debris from the collapse killed two crew members and injured 22.
The National Transportation Safety Board released a statement on the incident and is developing a plan on how to survey the wreckage.
“We will be looking at three main areas while we’re on scene,” said National Transportation Safety Board member Michael Graham. “First being the operation of the crew, the condition of the vessel, and finally the weather.”
