The 2026 Cannes Film Festival is underway in southern France, bringing together some of the biggest names in film and entertainment for one of the industry’s most prestigious events.
This year’s festival has attracted attention for several high-profile premieres, including “Fjord,” starring Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve, “Minotaur,” directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev, and “The Man I Love,” starring Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek.
“Fjord” quickly became one of the most talked-about films of the festival after reportedly receiving a standing ovation lasting more than 10 minutes following its premiere. Critics are already calling the emotional drama an early contender for the Palme d’Or — the festival’s highest honor.
Meanwhile, “The Man I Love,” set during the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, earned an eight-minute standing ovation at its Cannes debut, with early reviews praising Malek’s performance.
This year’s Palme d’Or winner will be decided by a jury featuring actress Demi Moore, actor Stellan Skarsgård and Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao.
