Cape Coral gets a helping hand as it awaits Hurricane Milton (includes video story)

Cape Coral residents were left to fend for themselves after the city declined to distribute sandbags for Hurricane Milton. Fortunately, one local came to their rescue.

Ronald Selway, owner of Weinmeister Roofing, brought truckloads of sand to the city and handed out over 40,000 pounds to the community. He continues to spread the word on Facebook for those in need of sandbags.

“I seen a need. I seen people panicking. I seen people in need,” said Selway. “I was in Home Depot Saturday, and everybody was in a panic, and then Cape Coral wasn’t going to be providing them.”

The roofing company owner knows the devastation a huge storm could cause without precautions. He had to rebuild his home due to damages from Hurricane Irma.

Selway doesn’t plan to stop distributing sandbags anytime soon and is set on making sure residents in the community take extra safety measures.
