The City of Doral hosted its second consecutive “Camping Under the Stars” event on this past Friday night in Doral Central Park, bringing families together to spend quality time with fun outdoor activities.
Filled with activities like a bounce house’s, s’mores by the campfire and countless booths with all kinds of treats, organizers included a little of everything for the almost 600 camper turnout, making this event a growing success.
For many campers, it was an entirely new experience.
“He has been dreaming of camping for a long, long time,” says attendee Juliet Mendez. “Since I was like three years old,” her son, Lucan Mendez, adds.
Although not exactly like camping in the middle of the wilderness, many families treated it as an opportunity to get a similar experience with extra entertainment provided.
The City of Doral is looking to plan more events that bring families together and strengthen community connections.
“The idea was always to how we can bring the community together, and that’s how it started,” says Councilman Rafel Pinegro. “And the fact that now people with families can spend the night with their kids, without electronics, without the TV, especially for the little ones to share.”
The City of Doral anticipates making “Camping Under the Stars” an annual event, with similar occasions throughout the year. Announcements and updates are posted on their Instagram.
