The City of Miami Beach hosted its 17th annual Veterans Day Parade yesterday along Ocean Drive, bringing together community members to honor service members of the United States Armed Forces. Despite the chilly weather, residents and visitors lined Ocean Drive and Fifth Street to watch the procession featuring veteran and military groups, marching bands, dance performances and local businesses.
This year’s celebration included a special acknowledgment commemorating the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps, along with a tribute to the iconic “Rosie the Riveter.”
“It’s very emotional when I go along the parade route and I especially see not just, a lot of parents, but a lot of the kids…they’re so innocent and they’re waving and they’re smiling,” said Retired U.S. Army Col. Manuel Supervielle. “They maybe don’t understand everything, but they’re happy to be here.”
The event concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony in Lummus Park at 1130 Ocean Drive, serving as a moment of reflection and gratitude.
