Clean Miami Beach hosts weekly beach cleanups (includes video story)

Clean Miami Beach, a non-profit organization, was founded in 2019 by Sophie Ringel. It is dedicated to protecting the community and marine wildlife from harmful pollutants.

It educates the people of South Florida on the importance of keeping beaches clean, “so that everybody becomes more aware,” said Sophie Ringel, founder of Clean Miami Beach, “and also thinks about maybe [they] should change a few habits.”

The organization also hosts weekly clean-ups where everyone is welcome to participate in selected beach locations in Miami Beach. The organization has gained recognition over the years, and now city officials, teachers, students, and executives take part in the cause.

“We had over 200 hu clean-ups,” said Shayla Reyes, a member of Clean Miami Beach. “Without this organization, garbage will still be there.”
