Colombia fans gathered at Mondogos restaurant in Doral on Saturday to cheer El Tricolor as they faced Portugal in a pivotal FIFA World Cup match.
By 7:30 p.m., Mondogos was filled to the brim as crowds got ready for the big watch party of the night. They dawned their red, yellow and blue, creating an energetic atmosphere as they followed every moment of the match.
While the match brought out a range of emotions, Colombian fans remained united in their passion for the Colombian national team.
“Emotions are high,” said Juan Carlos Garcia, a regular at Mondongos who came to watch the game. “The team is playing really great. We’re doing it really well. Just the mere fact that we got qualified in the first place means everything. We have this illusion that we will continue to advance.”
With South Florida serving as one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup, both organizers and local businesses continue to expect a strong turnout throughout the month as international supporters gather to celebrate the world’s biggest sporting event.
