The Deering Estate Foundation hosts its 19th annual seafood festival (includes video story)

April 13 marked the 19th annual Deering Seafood Festival at Deering Estate in Palmetto Bay.

Hosted by the Deering Estate Foundation and sponsored by the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board, the event welcomed families of all ages to experience fresh seafood, chef demonstrations, live entertainment and activities for the kids.

“My small but mighty staff and I have been working for six weeks straight to pull this all together,” said Nina Zanella, the executive director of the Deering Estate Foundation. “Believe it or not, once this festival starts, it’s like, ‘we did it.’”

The event was held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and hosted over 7,500 people. All proceeds from the event benefit the Deering Estate Foundation and are used to provide funding, advocacy and support for Deering Estate and its initiatives.
