On the morning of June 8, a fire broke out in a Denver apartment building, causing many people to escape through a second-story window and stand on a small awning. They were quickly saved by Adam Steinbach, who lived across the street and brought over a ladder for them to get down safely.
“It was definitely too far to jump,” said Steinbach. “So I just ran back, grabbed a ladder and threw it up and was able to get a couple of them down before the fire department showed up with a taller ladder.”
Five victims were rushed to the hospital, according to the Denver Fire Department. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
