DeSantis expected presidential run results in digital disaster (includes video story)

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis took to Twitter Wednesday to announce his 2024 presidential run. He was joined by Twitter owner Elon Musk on the audio platform, Twitter Spaces.

The livestream did not go as planned. It was plagued with technical difficulties and delayed for 30 minutes.

The GOP’s newest presidential candidate was asked about issues regarding his recent legislation, such as the NAACP’s travel advisory for Florida, which claims the state is unsafe for minorities. DeSantis also filed paperwork yesterday with the Federal Election Commission.

DeSantis joins the fray after months of speculation over his political future. CNN polls show former president Donald Trump leading the GOP field, but that the race is far from settled.

The two frontrunners in the Republican Party have been on a collision course for months, with the former president launching repeated attacks against the Florida governor. DeSantis has been using his speeches around the country to draw contrast.
