Dinosaurs visit Zoo Miami (includes video story)

Every few years, Zoo Miami hosts Dinos Among Us, a Jurassic adventure with life-sized animatronic dinosaurs at every turn.

The family-friendly attraction is back from now until September 14. It comes with activities such as a prehistoric scavenger hunt, a research station, and the opportunity to be sprayed with “venom” from one of the animatronic creatures.

In an interview with Caplin News, communications director Ron Magill explained that people tend to be fascinated by things that scare them.

“When asked, a lot of people might say their favorite exhibit is the tigers or the bears,” said Magill. “But then they do a survey where they are asked where they spend most of their time-believe it or not, it is in the reptile places because they can see it safely, but they are fascinated by that danger that exists,” said Magill.

At Dinos Among Us, visitors will see some dinosaurs that remind them of the animals we see today. For example, the triceratops looks like a rhino.

Magill explained that more dinosaurs will come soon.
