Dolphins tackle Jesse Davis out for COVID. Will others follow?

The Miami Dolphins placed starting right tackle Jesse Davis on the COVID-19/reserve list this afternoon. This means he will miss the upcoming game against the New York Jets. It is also possible contact-tracing will knock out a few more players.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald tweeted earlier that the team would be announcing a starter on that list and this Tweet followed.

Starting defensive tackle Christian Wilkins has already been on the COVID-19/reserve list for two weeks. His presence was clearly missed this past weekend against the Broncos.

The hole at right tackle will most likely be filled by rookie Robert Hunt. This would leave the Fins with three rookie starters on their offensive line — presuming Solomon Kindley is healthy against the Jets.

Hopefully, Davis has a speedy recovery, and contact tracing doesn’t turn up any new cases.

The offensive line was already dealing with pressure issues during the Broncos game. Now, with three rookies all on the line, center Ted Karras and guard Ereck Flowers will need to step up.
