Doral workshop inspires community with glue and imagination (includes video story)

Sometimes, it takes a little glue and imagination to bring people together. This past weekend, a decoupage workshop in Doral invited attendees of all ages to transform simple wooden boards into one-of-a-kind pieces using fabric, glue, and creativity.

Damla Yenigun, who hosted the event, explained that her goal was to create a space for emotional wellness and a judgment-free zone where people could disconnect from daily stress and reconnect with creativity.

“I love seeing everyone come together to enjoy the moment,” Yenigun said. “There’s something so special about people sitting side by side, creating art with their hands.”

Decoupage is a decorative art technique that involves cutting and layering pieces of paper or fabric onto surfaces using adhesive, often sealing them with varnish. It’s simple, affordable, and accessible to anyone with no prior artistic experience. The technique allows full creative freedom, making it the perfect activity for beginners and experienced crafters.
