Huge Porsche showcase, Das Renn Treffen, returns to Miami (includes video story)

Das Renn Treffen (Translation from German: the race meet) returns this weekend and will gather thousands of South Florida classic car enthusiasts for the area’s largest Porsche showcase.

Models such as 911s, Carrera GTs, Cayennes and more wil rev throughout South Miami’s Sunset Place, where the event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 18 and Sunday, Jan. 19. Tickets start at $25 for the main event while an exclusive cocktail party set the kick the weekend off on Jan. 17 starts at $250.

“What is special about these events is that it is a lot of cars that you do not know exist,” said Jose Paez, an automotive fan who’s made a business of modifying cars.

An avid DRT attendee, Paez claims the local car community is dying due to a lack of events and meets. He believes a large-scale show like Das Renn Treffen is both a rarity and a blessing to see in Miami.
