The conversation on whether or not a recession is underway is heating up as Trump’s tariff plan gets closer. According to experts, there is still time to avoid a recession and keep our economy healthy. Trump plans to release his anticipated tariffs on April 2, leaving just a short amount of time for damage control.
Economists have gone back and forth regarding the upcoming tariffs and their possible effects on the American people. Differing opinions have led to trial and error being the only way for us to see just what will happen in the next few months. Kevin Hassett, the White House National Economic Council Director says, “Between now and April 2, there’ll be some uncertainty.”
While other countries are prepping their retaliatory measures, President Donald Trump stands firm on the benefits of his tariffs plan. Speaking to reporters, Trump explained, “It’s a liberation day for our country because we’re going to be getting back a lot of the wealth that we so foolishly gave up to other countries.” Experts also claim that any damage done could potentially be fixed.
How the economy will be affected remains unknown. However, countries who are beginning to make trade deals excluding the United States show that this policy will change many other things such as international relations. Economists around the world are preparing and warning officials to do what’s right, before it’s too late.
