Residents gather at Enchanted Place to celebrate the holidays (includes video story)

Residents in North Miami are spreading holiday cheer at the Enchanted Place, a street celebration open through December nightly from 7-10 p.m.

The community has gathered together for more than 37 years to decorate NE 137th Terrace near 18th Avenue. Ken Digenova, a resident since 1987, explained how it all started as a competition.

“We moved in and neighbors were asking us to put up the lights for them,” he explained. “I said, ‘Let’s make it a street thing,’” Digenova said.

However, those who participate have to pay for their lights and electricity. Donations are collected through Venmo and AT&T Pioneers, a nonprofit organization where volunteers help their local communities.
