On Friday, Oct. 12, the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) and the Google News Initiative will host a training session on covering elections at FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus in Academic Center II, room 115. The event is free and have to different training sessions: The English session is from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a Spanish session from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Leaders of the training session include: Reporters, Samaruddin Stewart, Samanthe Sunne, an Jorge Luis Sierra. Topics covered include: Detecting misinformation, data journalism and ethics according to the event website.
Anyone interested in attending the event should bring a laptop for “hands-on” training.
