Soccer fever has finally come to the U.S. with the kickoff this past weekend of the 305 FIFA’s Club World Cup. It began with a match between local team Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, and the most decorated team in Egypt’s history, Al Ahly FC.
The game, which was hosted at Hard Rock Stadium, presented an epic performance by Cuban singer Richaelio. Other entertainers included American Swae Lee and Moroccan singer French Montana, who performed the top hit “Unforgettable.”
After the performances, there was a presentation showing the 32 clubs participating in the one-month tournament. Local, state, and even Federal law enforcement were present, providing security at all levels; however, the entrance was still fast and accessible.
The game had many highlights, including a missed penalty kick by Al Ahly.
Even though the game ended in a tie, it marked the beginning of an important chapter in international sports, signaling the start of what is expected to be one of the most exciting tournaments in our lifetime.
