FIU baseball loses to Canes in historic game at LoanDepot Park (includes video story)

Florida International University baseball yesterday became the second FIU team ever to face off against the University of Miami at LoanDepot Park.

They were hoping to match the football team’s upset of the Hurricanes at the same venue in 2019.

Even though the final 7-3 win by Miami was not the result FIU wanted in the backyard showdown, it was still a historic night for the school.

“It’s huge,” said Miami Dolphins tight end and FIU alumni Jonnu Smith. “Not every college in the country gets to play in a stadium like this man. So it’s definitely big for the school and for the city as well.”

The Panthers will face off against the Canes again this season on April 2, April 23 and May 7.
