FIU football kicks off tonight (includes video story)

Things haven’t been looking great for Florida International University football.

The team starts the season ranked among the worst in college football after going 1 and 11 last year.

But with an all new coaching staff and 48 new players, the Panthers are ready to flip the script.

It is a new era under FIU’s new head coach Mike MacIntyre, who shared nothing but optimism during the preview press conference on Wednesday.

“I feel like we got guys where if one of them went down, I’m very very confident that the next guy can come in and get the job done,” MacIntyre said.

From new designs on the football field every home game to a new tailgate area next to Tamiami Hall, the trimmings have all been revamped. The FIU football season opener kicks off at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday Sept. 1, at Riccardo Silva Stadium against Bryant College.
