FIU hosts a safe space for Jewish students to deal with antisemitism on campus (includes video)

Today, it has been a year since the Oct. 7 attack on Israel. And for all that time, many people say, antisemitism has remained a problem for Jewish students on college campuses. According to the Anti-Defamation League, such incidents have increased dramatically over the past 10 years and have led to negative experiences for Jewish students on college campuses.

However, one local organization at Florida International University, Hillel at FIU, fights antisemitism through on-campus events and programs to help Jewish students. Many Jewish students have tried to find a supportive community on campus.

“I think a lot of students on this campus, because of the increase in antisemitism, have had more of a desire for community,” said Steven Resnick, the Martha Escoll Director of Jewish Life at FIU. “They’ve really been looking to find other Jewish people on campus, and I think this is the place where they’ve been able to find that.”
