Florida International University last week opened an Esports lounge at the Graham Center on the Modesto Maidique Campus.

The facility includes an open lobby filled with computers, a competitive training room and a broadcast studio with printers. The university partnered with Alienware, a Miami-born company founded in 1996 then purchased by Dell in 2006 to create the Alienware Esports Lounge.

Lucas Garay, one of five members of FIU’ s Esports varsity team, was at the lounge this past Friday.

“It does raise the stakes,” said Garay. “We have better equipment, pretty much everything we need to do well.
