Florida International University’s Student Life organization hosted a mental health discussion on Tuesday at the Frost Art Museum. It brought together students, a professional in the field, and Inter Miami players.
Sponsored by Café Bustelo, the event is part of the “Conversations with Cafecito” series, now in its third year on campus.
Students packed the room, grabbing cafecito and giveaways as it began. Organizers aimed to create a relaxed space where attendees felt comfortable speaking up and sharing their own experiences.
Inter Miami midfielders Alexander Shaw and David Ruiz discussed handling pressure on and off the field. Students asked questions and connected on topics like family, religion and social media.
Ruiz shared how he deals with tough moments after a loss.
“I try to stay mentally strong, learn from it, and focus on what I can do better next time,” he said.
