FIU’s Hospitality and Tourism helping in Surfside (Includes video story)

It’s been a week since Champlain Towers South collapsed in Surfside. Rescue teams have been working diligently around the clock to locate victims.

Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management thanked first responders last week for their hard work by cooking meals for the rescue teams.

Ivonne Yee Amor, communications and public relations staff member at the Chaplin School, proposed the idea to Dean Michael Cheng and Professor Rossy Cohen.

“Our introduction to food production class was cooking,” Cohen said. “I spoke with a professor and I said, ‘If you and the students make the food, I’ll deliver it.’”
