Picking out an ice cream flavor is often the pinnacle of a child’s day, so when you reach adulthood, eating the frozen wonderfulness can bring back forgotten memories, a sense of wonder and a touch of nostalgia.

Even so, it can be hard to pick out an ice cream place that is worth the time to visit these days. Well, look no further, because these shops all offer a unique twist on the frozen dessert we all know and love.

Mr. Cool Ice Cream

Mr. Cool Ice Cream has been around since 2018. Their rolls are hand-made with heavy cream, milk and sugar. The shop has 12 signature recipes starting at $6.99. There’s a bubble waffle cone option that includes two scoops of ice cream, your choice of syrups (including nutella and peanut butter) and three toppings for $9.59. Their DIY option starts at $7.99; you can choose up to two flavors of ice cream, and three toppings. Additional toppings go for 35 cents.

Since 2017, Frosty’s Lab has been serving up nitrogen ice cream and yogurt in over 20 flavors. Personalizing a frozen treat has never been sweeter. This shop freezes your tasty creation with nitrogen right before your eyes. For prices starting at $6.89, you can create your own by picking a flavor then choosing toppings they mix into the cream of your choice. For an additional 89 cents for each topping, you can choose as many as you want. They also have flavor syringes for an extra $1.29. Frosty’s offers vegan and sugar-free cream options, as well as takeout and delivery.

This restaurant chain lets you customize your own frozen dessert down to the kind of cream you want. They have more than 30 flavors and toppings they mix into the personalized creation before they freeze it. Their pre-made options, called sensations, start at $9.35 for a small bowl, regular size is an additional 60 cents and a large is an extra $1.20. All sensations come with a waffle bowl. A small customizable option starts at $7.12, a regular is an additional 90 cents and a large is an additional $1.50. Additional toppings are 85 cents for both sensations and customizable bowls. Sub Zero is also located on West Flagler Street.

Morelia Ice Cream Paletas

Morelia Ice Cream Paletas has more than 16 flavors. Their paletas go for $6.50 and toppings range up to $2. If you are a tropical flavor lover, you will surely enjoy their passion fruit-filled-with-condensed-milk paleta. The place is open Friday through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Monday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. Make sure to stop by any eight of their locations in Florida, including our go-to place in Wynwood.

Mr.Kream is an ice cream shop that represents hip-hop culture. The shop is located in Wynwood. If you love dessert and music, this is the spot you want to check out. The minute you walk through their doors, you will feel like you’re being transported into a world filled with iconic musical figures, music, and old-school games. The most popular item among their customers is 2 live blue ice cream, which is an oreo cookie, cookie dough, and blue vanilla ice cream. The staff is friendly, and the service is hands down the best. The menu prices range from $5 to $20, and adult treats such as the booze-infused ice cream go for around $13.
