Floridians advised to prepare for turbulent hurricane season (includes video story)

According to NOAA’s National Hurricane Center, Florida could experience a damaging hurricane season due to rising ocean surface temperatures.

The agency’s newly released preseason forecast predicts between 17 and 25 named systems; up to 13 of them could become hurricanes.

Residents and officials in the Gulf Coast and South Florida communities are preparing for the rocky weather.

“We know that just one storm can cause a catastrophic impact, so we must ensure that we are safe and prepared,” says Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
