Destination Sport will be Miami’s new, 820,000 square feet indoor sports facility. Planned just west of Dolphin Mall, it is expected to be completed in 24 months.
Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced the project at TopGolf in Doral Wednesday, where she was joined by Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz.
“Sports are incredible,” said Diaz, “and I think sports unite a community more than anything.”
Also in attendance were award-winning athletes, including former NBA player Glen Rice, former NHL player Bryan Trottier, former NFL player Randy Moss and former U.S. national women’s soccer coach Jill Ellis.
The professional athletes will work with their respective training programs at the $110 million facility.
The facility will include two NHL regulation ice hockey rinks, an NFL-FIFA regulation soccer field, 18 NBA regulation basketball courts, 36 volleyball courts, 11 regulation USTA tennis courts, a 50-meter Olympic swimming pool, an eSports arena, a 15,000 square feet fitness center, an indoor surf machine and more.
