According to the National Cancer Institute, in 2024, an estimated 2 million new cases of cancer were diagnosed and over 600,000 people died from the disease.
Knowledge and statistics on cancer are essential for governments, policy makers, health professionals and researchers to understand the true impact of the disease on the population and address its challenges. Non-profit organizations raise money and awareness to the cause to fund research efforts and support survivors.
One organization, Haymakers For Hope, is inviting South Florida to watch as they “knock out” cancer with ther first charitable boxing event on March 6 at the Fillmore Miami Beach, located at 1700 Washington Ave, Miami Beach.
Taking place at 7:30 p.m., tickets for the event will start at $85 per person and go on sale this Sunday, Jan. 12.
“We are so excited to introduce our charity boxing event to the Miami community,” states Andrew Myerson, co-founder of Haymakers for Hope.
The organization has already raised more than $100,000. All donations from the event will benefit the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, state-of-the-art treatment and follow-up care, and various other charities handpicked by the participating boxers.
“Training for a boxing match is no joke; it takes so much commitment and truly tests each individual,” said Jordan McMillan, the marketing manager for Haymakers for Hope.
