Dade Street Boxing hosts its twentieth fight in Hialeah (includes video story)

On March 8, Dade Street Boxing, a league based in Hialeah, hosted its twentieth fight. The event featured nine different bouts with a diverse group of boxers.

The league has grown significantly and made its place within the boxing community. It was created four years ago by a few friends messing around and now features boxers that are attempting to go professional. The league gives these fighters the opportunity to have fun while testing the waters.

Javier Murillo was among the 18 contenders present. He won his match in the heavyweight class. “I trained really hard for this, a lot of runs, a lot of miles, and heavy bag work,” he said. “It feels good to see that my work paid off and I was able to secure the win.”

The league has been a great space for those to come together and enjoy watching fights.

“We don’t really make money off of it,” said Joseph Perez, one of the founders. “It really is just for the love of the game.”
