Americans aren’t letting state of economy ruin their holiday shopping (includes video story)

The holiday shopping season is upon us. As stores and malls around the nation get ready for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, we are to seeing more shoppers than years before.

“Today’s shoppers are very savvy when it comes to shopping around and finding what works best for them,” said Katherine Cullen of the National Retail Federation.

Despite inflation throughout the U.S. and fear of a recession, people are still shopping. Debra Gunn Downing, executive director of marketing in South Coast Plaza in California, says shopping keeps friends and family happy during the holiday season.

“We’re seeing people overcoming that because they want to do something special this season,” said Downing.
