Rain and gusting winds shook up the Homestead Miami Speedway this past weekend as the Formula and Automobile Racing Association (FARA) hosted the Homestead 300.
The changing conditions led to tight packs and constant position shifts, especially in the Pro Spec Miata racing class, where drivers rely on drafting to stay in front.
“I thrive in the weather so I definitely love when it rains,” said 17-year-old Christian Meyer, who scored two runner-up finishes.
Despite a lighter roster than usual because of a packed fall racing calendar, those who lined up delivered an exciting competition.
“The best thing is a pouring down rain or a dry track, the worst thing is a drying track because you don’t know where the grip is,” said race winner Todd Buras. “It’s the true equalizer in every series you ever see.”
FARA will return to Homestead Miami Speedway on Dec. 19-21 for its annual Race of Champions, where competitors will chase wins and season titles.
