Hundreds missing in Hurricane Helene’s aftermath (includes video story)

Residents of Asheville, North Carolina saw their town flooded as Hurricane Helene battered the region. While homes and valuables were engulfed by huge rivers, desperation grew and hundreds in the city were unaccounted for.

“It’s pretty shocking,” remarked Samuel Piazza, a North Carolina resident. “I don’t think anyone prepared for it to be this high of water.” His words echo those of the rest of the country.

Despite losing so much to the hurricane, Asheville residents are stepping up to help their community and those in need.

While clearing debris and damage in the area, rescue teams continue their search for those who have gone missing. President Joe Biden plans to visit the hard-hit city in the next few days.
