Identi-Ts: Artist Daniel Marosi showcased words that inspire positive thinking

Daniel Marosi produced the Identi-Ts Photography Exhibition at the Anson Family Gallery in the Miramar Cultural Center. People from the Broward County community gathered wearing T-shirts with phrases or words that identified them. There was a mom with a child and a shirt emblazoned with “Mother Lover.”

The photoshoot took place at Studio 18 in Pembroke Pines with 21 participants, and soon after, the pictures were displayed as an art exhibition from Aug. 21 to Sept. 3.

Marosi’s work revolves around words and phrases that impact human behavior, mainly focusing on positive motivation.

“I … present them in a way that is meant to take you out of your routine and move you into the realm of thinking positively about yourself and your situation,” Marosi said.

He collects material such as song lyrics, advertising slogans, Bible passages and conversations. Sometimes Marosi presents phrases in the form of road signs, which are meant to direct and warn people. He uses this format to make people think.

“I wanted to take a little bit of a risk and allow people to present their own words, their own ideas, their own beliefs,” said Marosi.

The process of creating the exhibition involved significant work, from proposing the project to the Broward Cultural Division to inviting people from the community to participate and wear their identifying T-shirts.

As with any other project, the artist faced various challenges during the pre-production process of the exhibition, such as finding a suitable location for the photo shoot, ensuring a sufficient number of participants, and securing a community gallery space to exhibit the final work.

For young artists who want to showcase their art, ideas, or projects, Marosi advises, “Keep a list of ideas and dreams, no matter how big or small they may seem, build a community that can support and encourage you, and collaborate with others to create new and exciting projects.”
