Insurance companies lower rates for Florida homeowners (includes video story)

After years of increasing home insurance rates, nine companies have filed to decrease their rates, a positive sign for Florida homeowners.

“It is a very good thing,” says Robert Norberg, president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Palm Beach County. “It is progress to what we’ve said all along that the market stabilization is happening.”

While it is good news, some homeowners’ prices won’t decrease due to inflation.

Meanwhile, more companies may be joining the list after hurricane season.
