Over 100 Iranian Americans rallied in downtown Fort Lauderdale on Broward Boulevard on Sunday. They called for a democratic transition in Iran.
They celebrated the US-Israeli military operation in Iran.
“We just want to thank our leaders for helping end the regime who took our country hostage 47 years ago,” protester Shiva Far explained. “We all have huge families over there who cannot come out right now. We are so worried we cannot talk with them, but we heard they are all so happy!”
The protestors shouted support chants for President Trump and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The name of exiled crowned prince, Reza Pahlavi, was also chanted as the protestors urged him to lead the country.
“He has that potential to become the transition power to our democratic future,” fellow protestor Nima Schei said. “Everybody, including Rex Pahlavi are saying there will be democratic elections so Iran can have a say in a very transparent and democratic future.”
After the protest, it was announced that the son of Iran’s former leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had been named to take over the country.
