South Floridians flock to La Casa de los Trucos for last-minute Halloween costumes (includes video story)

As Halloween approaches, La Casa de los Trucos in Little Havana is the go-to destination for last-minute costume shoppers.

The store, well known to communities for generations, offers everything from costumes and wild masks to creative makeup, drawing families from across South Florida. As big-box stores like Party City close locations, locals continue to rely on this long-standing neighborhood favorite.

“I’ve been coming to this store since I was a little kid, I would come here with my parents,” said Andrew Zevallos, who visited this week to buy contact lenses.

Families see the store at 1343 SW Eighth St. as a tradition — a place passed down from parents to children, where generations come to pick out costumes, masks and makeup for Halloween.

“We treat everyone like family,” said Jorge Torres, who has been the manger since 2007.
