The Life Time 305 Half Marathon & 5K in Miami Beach tests runner endurance (includes video story)

On Sunday, 4,500 runners from 37 states and 36 countries participated in the Life Time 305 Half Marathon and 5K on Ocean Drive, immersing themselves in Miami’s one-of-a-kind energy during their 13.1 mile and 3.1 mile runs.

Local Miami Beach runners, 42 year-old Caroline Lefrak (1:23:00) and 30 year-old Alexander Beach (1:12:38), finished first in the women’s and men’s Half Marathon fields, earning hometown victories. Meanwhile, 35 year-old Jerry Francois from Brooklyn landed in first place in the 5K, running for 16 minutes and 38 seconds.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank my lord and savior, because without him, I couldn’t be doing what I’m doing,” said Francois. “And it’s amazing just being in a competitive sport and moving our bodies on this blessed day.”

The event also featured local bites, lively music and cafecitos from vendors and sponsors. At the Finish Festival, participants enjoyed live dueling DJs, cold plunges, medal engraving, games and a beer garden.

“It was the energy, and the belonging vibes provided by the organizations involved that brought me out [to run],” said Jay Tal, a participant of the 305 LifeTime Half Marathon & 5K.
