The first-ever Choque de Gigantes (Clash of the Giants) baseball tournament took place from Nov. 8-10 at LoanDepot Park. Six teams from Venezuela, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic battled it out to determine which will become the first-ever champions.

The weekend featured two head-to-head matchups per day, with concerts from Caribbean artists in between breaks.

“They are young men who come to do a job.” says Navegantes del Magallanes infielder Pablo Sandoval, “They’re young, and they come to demonstrate what they want to do for their team when they wear the jersey, and that is what the veteran players on the team will notice.

Luckily for Sandoval, the Navegantes del Magallanes — who hale from Venezuela — were victorious in the finals, becoming the first ever champions of the Choque De Gigantes tournament.
