Local designer has brought custom gowns to Miami for over 40 years (includes video story)

Esther Jordan is a Cuban fashion designer and owner of Jorka Atelier, a fashion store that specializes in custom gowns. The boutique has brought elegant dresses for every occasion to Miami for over 50 years.

Born on August 27, 1958 in Havana, Cuba, Jordan emigrated to the United States when she was three years old. She purchased Jorka Atelier, previously owned by her mother-in-law, in January 2017 before renovating it and moving it to its current location in Southwest Dade.

In January 2024, Jordan launched a clothing line named Esther Jordan Collections. She boasts exclusivity in her designs, proudly stating that when someone buys a gown from Jorka Atelier, they won’t find anything similar to it elsewhere.

“What is memorable to me is to have someone light up when we have changed their gown completely to suit them, so that it’s theirs personally,” said the designer and businesswoman.
