Man screams throughout the night to protest fireworks (includes video story)

Residents of Cape Coral, near Fort Myers, got an early July 4 show last week thanks to a neighbor who spent a night screaming in protest of fireworks.

“He seemed to be upset that people were celebrating early,” said Sara Warnecke, a resident of the area.

The man was putting on his own mock-display, imitating the sound of pyrotechnics. People in the neighborhood believe he did it in order to protest how loud fireworks can get and to show how they bother the rest of the community.

“Pretending to be a firework is also going to run afoul of our noise ordinances,” said Master Corporal Phil Mullen of the Cape Coral Police Department.

Cape Coral PD responded to six firework-related calls throughout the July 4 weekend.
