Marlins hope to keep the pace after a solid start (includes video story)

The Marlins are off to a 6-4 start to begin the 2026 season. It comes after the Fish saw a 17-win improvement last year — finishing 79-83 — in the playoff race all the way until the final series.

With a mix of players varying in experience, manager Clayton McCullough is attacking this season with a sense of urgency.

One of the offseason acquisitions came following a trade with the Chicago Cubs, acquiring top 100 prospect Owen Caissie.

Through the first 10 games of the season, Caissie is slashing .296/.355/.593 with two home runs and nine RBI.

On the mound, Sandy Alcantara is looking like his 2022 self—the year he became the first pitcher to win the National League Cy Young Award.

The Marlins will wrap up the homestand with one more game against the Cincinnati Reds before they take the road to play against the Detroit Tigers and then the Atlanta Braves.

“We may have surpassed expectations, but we still lost more games than we won,” said Marlins outfielder Griffin Conine, on the team’s performance last season.
