Thousands gathered along Ocean Drive on Sunday for the Miami Beach Pride (MBP) Parade, the finale of a multi-day celebration that highlighted identity and inclusion.
MBP was established by former Miami Beach Mayor Matti Bower in 2008 as an initiative of the Miami Beach Gay Business Development Council.
The two-day festival celebrated LGBTQ+ arts and culture, attracting more than 185,000 attendees.
The parade featured a range of participants, from local LGBTQ+ organizations and businesses to elected officials and community leaders. Attendees danced to live music, waved rainbow flags, and cheered on the performers as they made their way down Ocean Drive. The event also included vendor booths, food trucks, and other festivities celebrating queer culture and identity.
Some emphasized the ongoing push for LGBTQ+ visibility and acceptance.
“Love is love and everyone should be loved and appreciated, especially now in our political climate,” said Kira Willig, a law professor at the University of Miami who attended the parade.
